Northchase and Wrightsboro sit in a stretch of north Wilmington that behaves differently from the rest of New Hanover County. You are eight to ten miles from the ocean, off Highway 117 and Castle Hayne Road, close enough to I-40 that the whole corridor is still filling in with new rooftops. Well water in this part of the county commonly carries dissolved iron and manganese, which oxidize the moment you add sanitizer and turn a fresh fill rusty brown or greenish within an hour.

If you are on a well, fill through a hose-end pre-filter, add a metal sequestrant before the first shock, and test hardness before you touch pH. If you are on county water, your fill is consistent but harder than most owners expect — watch for the scale ring at the waterline and keep calcium hardness in the 150–250 ppm range.

Spring: pollen defense, filter every two weeks, cover conditioner. Summer: watch stabilizer and temperature, top off for evaporation, rinse the cover often. Fall: pine straw season, check the seal and the cover lifter hardware.
